Most of the time cough, runny nose and common cold are caused by a viral infection. There is a variety of symptoms that include, sniffling and runny nose, sore throat, coughing and chest congestion. In children, fever is common too. Loss of sense of taste or smell may also happen with upper respiratory infections.
Common cold In children may last 10 days but only 3 to7 days in adults. Occasionally people suffer for 2 weeks.
Children usually have more severe symptoms than adults.
Occasionally common cold may lead to ear or sinus infections, asthma exacerbation, bronchitis and pneumonia.
